A popular girl group in Thailand has apologized after one of its members wore a shirt with a swastika on it during a performance.
The Associated Press reported 19-year-old Pichayapa ‘Namsai’ Natha apologized in a video shown on the stage where Thai music group BNK48 usually performs on Sunday. In the video, she asks for forgiveness and falls to her knees before her group mates surround her to comfort her, the AP reported.
The incident happened during a performance on Friday.
The Israeli Embassy in Thailand said in a declaration posted on social media that BNK48’s artist and COO met with Israel’s ambassador on Sunday to apologize in person. The two sides agreed to organize educational forums on the Holocaust in the future.
Sunday marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day, with world leaders paying tribute to the victims of the Holocaust.
