Thai cuisine has captivated American taste buds for years, and there is no shortage of Thai restaurants in Martin County. So when I jump into the review, I pick one that has stood the test of time.

Thai House at Jensen Beach has been lighting up palates for over 15 years.

A family business, the decor is a bit dated, but the traditional flavors of the cuisine shine with authenticity.

An appetizer of five curry puffs ($ 6.95) was delicious and made me wish I had to share. The crispy fried dough triangles were filled with a mixture of minced sweet potatoes, onions and chicken perfectly seasoned with curry.

If you love coconut like me. Tom Kha soup is a must. I ordered a bowl ($ 9.95) of this exotic and creamy concoction made with coconut milk, thinly sliced ​​chicken, onions, mushrooms, and a range of aromatic spices, including lemongrass, kafir lime leaves and galangal, which is similar to ginger.

As for the entrees, we enlisted the help of our friendly waiter for recommendations. The Siamese Twins Sizzling Platter ($ 13.95) didn’t have much of a description printed on the menu, but we quickly learned that it consisted of chicken and beef topped with a veggie mix that included spinach, zucchini, red peppers, onions and mushrooms. served on a sizzling plate. The waiter laughed when I compared it to a Thai fajita. When it got to the table, she poured a sweet and sour chili sauce over it which produced a pleasant aromatic vapor.

The market price on the whole snapper, at $ 28.95, seemed a bit high and out of step with the rest of the appetizer prices, which average around $ 14.95, but I had heard of good things about the dish so we gave it a try. Beautifully threaded, complete with head and tail, the serving size was easily enough for two people.

The whole snapper was ordered with a garlic and black pepper sauce.

Presented on a fish-shaped platter, you can choose from three preparations, a spicy chili sauce, a garlic and black pepper sauce, or even the Choo Chee, where the fillet is topped with a red curry paste and coconut milk. We went for the black pepper with garlic. The sauce was not overbearing and the dish came with a nice array of sautéed vegetables including cabbage, snow peas, broccoli, carrots and green onions.

You can’t fault a Thai restaurant without trying Thailand’s most popular dish, Pad Thai ($ 11.95). I found the version of Thai House quite exceptional. The rice noodles were perfectly cooked and sautéed with shrimp, chicken, eggs, bean sprouts, green onions and ground peanuts in an amazing sauce exclusive to this restaurant. It had a nice subtle peanut flavor and I would definitely order it again.

All starters are accompanied by unlimited jasmine rice. It is served at the table in a large silver urn, which I thought was a nice touch.

Thai cuisine is most appealing due to the attention to detail regarding texture, color and taste. The palatable combination of sweet, salty, sour and bitter in each dish can be attributed to a range of aromatic spices such as Thai basil, which has a slight taste of anise, ginger , chili, mint and lemongrass.
